We do have saltwater as well as freshwater rods and reels for all guests to use. We also have crab and shrimp pots, this equipment is available for use free of charge.
CAN I MAIL THINGS TO ADVENTURE ALASKA AHEAD OF TIME SO I CAN TRAVEL WITH LESS LUGGAGE?

Yes, some guests prefer to ship items ahead to save the hassle of traveling with many bags or to save on weight for float plane travel. We recommend the U.S. Postal Service as they have the best shipping rates by about ¼ the cost of UPS, FED EX and DHL. Please just let us know that you will be sending some boxes and use the address below. Shipping to southeast Alaska from the Lower 48 usually takes about 10-12 days when using the US Mail. To be extra safe, you might want to ship 3 weeks before your arrival. Please do not ship boxes more than three weeks ahead as space is limited.

If you have a fishing rod over 3′ long, you will be charged extra freight on the float plane. You might want to mail that as well.

**New and Important info:**

When shipping your boxes you MUST do these things:
Write name of trip leader on box
Write date of trip on box
If you would like to know when your box arrives PLEASE send it certified, return receipt. (You will automatically get a reciept in your mail confirming that we have recieved your package)

If you opt to use FED EX, UPS or another, plan on it taking twice as long and costing twice as much!

ONCE I CATCH ALL MY FISH HOW DO I GET IT HOME?

Your fish can be processed one of two ways: You can opt to have us vacuum seal it for you OR you can bag and freeze your own catch. Some of our guests bring their own Food Saver machines to seal and freeze their fish each night while others prefer to have this done for them.

Option 1- We offer commercial vacuum sealing for $1.75 per pound; $5 per lb for smoked fish. It will be sealed, labeled, frozen, boxed and strapped for airline transfer. The boxes we use are wax-lined fish boxes with plastic liners. Each box will be weighed not to exceed the 50 lb. airline weight limit and strapped with professional strapping.

Option 2- Doing your own fish
If you decide seal and freeze your own fish, we will assist you in boxing and strapping it for airline transfer as mentioned above. Your fish will be packed in a wax-lined fish box with a plastic liner, weighed not to exceed the 50 lb. airline weight limit and strapped with professional strapping.

The fish you catch on Prince of Wales is a precious commodity not to be wasted, take it home, share it and your stories with friends, family and co-workers!

SHOULD I BRING WADERS OR HIP BOOTS?
While it is not mandatory to have chest waders to fish the streams we recommend them. A lightweight pair of chest waders combined with a good rain jacket will give you a great rain suit even if you are not wading in the streams. Staying dry keeps people smiling longer.
ARE FELT SOLES LEGAL IN ALASKA?
Starting January 2012 no felt-sole wading shoes can be used in Alaska while sport fishing in fresh water.
